Pietra Porzia: typical Italian restaurant in Frascati, near Rome
The Pietra Porzia agritourism houses a typical Italian restaurant open to the public, perfect for food and wine lovers: our policy is to use 85% of the products coming from our lands or bought in nearby farms. This allows us to offer a true farm-to-table, organic cuisine.
Typical local restaurant
Pietra Porzia is a typical restaurant in Frascati which marries with the tradition of the Castelli Romani area. Here, we offer some ancient recipes of the territory such as the vignarola.
We make country bread with whole wheat of our production. With the same whole wheat, we make homemade pasta, lasagna, and ravioli by using La Monferrina, “the Ferrari of pasta making machines”. We also farm season vegetable.
In good weather, you can eat outside on the terrace located in front of the villa, or by the pool. If the air is cold, the restaurant is located inside the Roman villa of Pietra Porzia, where we have done all of our best to maintain the original atmosphere and appearance of a historic house, with its wooden ceiling and its home furnishings elegant details.
The restaurant has a central room in the ancient Roman villa of the family. The room opens onto two terraces: one gazes at the main gardens of the villa; the other one faces the pool.
Our wine
In our restaurant, we serve only the wines that come from our vineyards:
Frascati : Frascati Regillo of Pietra Porzia is the true Frascati wine of the past times, with an intense aroma of ripe apple and almonds combined with the freshness of a modern wine.
Lecino doc Roma is a wine of great personality, a personality that is linked to the Lecinaro vine and to its natural scent of cocoa, eucalyptus and cherries in spirits.
All the wines of our restaurant come from our vineyards. They are cultivated respecting the environment according to the EU rules, and they have a low amount of sulfites, just less than half of the amount allowed by law for organic wines. Our wines are therefore an absolute guarantee against headaches or bad hangovers, in full respect of the standards of environmental sustainability.
Our olive oil
The extra virgin olive oil we use at the restaurant and during the cellar wine tasting events comes from the olive grove owned by our company. It is an oil showing very low acidity. It’s extremely fragrant, rich with antioxidant polyphenols, and it’s obtained through cold pressing in our mill.
Our vegetable garden and our orchard
Our garden, divided into two plots for a total area of about almost two acres, gives us aromatic plants and vegetables in large quantity: potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants, spinaches, aromatic herbs, and the classic Roman artichokes as well.
Tomatoes are seasonal vegetables that become a fragrant sauce. Cooked according to the ancient recipes of the Castelli Romani, they are not only delicious side dishes but also a succulent vegan main dish. The production is so abundant that sometimes we offer part of it to few, loyal customers.
In the orchard, we grow apricots, peaches, plums, cherries, apples, pears, and pomegranates. All of them are used for making jams, breakfast cakes or other recipes in the farmhouse’s kitchen. In the orchard, the beehives are located as well: from these, we produce our natural honey.
